Going to see Charlie Chaplin's "The Gold Rush" with live musical accompaniment at the SF Symphony on Friday evening. Then there's the SF Japantown Cherry Blossom Festival on the weekend proper. I'll probably take my camera for that (though I still haven't posted the photos from my trip to Kyoto last year...)

Oh sweet, I didn't know the Cherry Blossom Festival was this weekend also, I'll have to drop by on the way back from my plant meeting. Saturday is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

Excellent - I wish I had more opportunities to see old films with live music. Enjoy!

AIUI, the music is actually written by Chaplin. Should be fun!

Ooh, silent movies + live music = fabulous! Went to see 'The Cabinet of Dr Caligari' with live music a few weeks ago and it was excellent! I would love to see more like that, I can never concentrate properly on silents when they're shown on TV. >_<

Yeah, I saw Caligari at the Castro (great old neighborhood theater in San Francisco) with live accompaniment by the Club Foot Orchestra.

Have you ever seen Nosferatu with the Art Zoyd soundtrack? Great stuff!

No, I haven't. Saw it in a cinema a few years ago but the soundtrack they used was... unremarkable. :-/ I haven't listened to much Art Zoyd at all, which I ought to put right.

The DVD from Kino Video has it as a sound option. I recommend checking it out. Art Zoyd's soundtracks for Nosferatu and Haxan are both excellent and very creepy (I haven't seen the latter film though). Actually I like everything I've heard from Art Zoyd.

You know, I think I've got it on DVD somewhere. Not sure what edition, though. I'll have to see if I can find it in one of umpteen cardboard boxes (serial house moves tend to make one vague when it comes to material possessions!).
