R.I.P. Vincent Schiavelli

Veteran character actor Vincent Schiavelli died yesterday. While most of the media obituaries mention his work in Ghost, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Amadeus, as well as his parallel career as a food writer, I will always think of him first and foremost as one character:

John BigbooTAY!!! TAY! TAY! TAY!

Thanks for the memories, Vince.

He was an awesome character actor. The last film I recall seeing him in was Hallmark's Snow White -- as one of the dwarves.

Now that's casting against type!

Not really. In this version, the Dwarves were named after days of the week.

He was "Wednesday's child, full of woe"

He was one of those guys you see all the time in all kinds of movies and TV shows. Although I never knew his name, I certainly couldn't forget his face! I find it rather enjoyably ironic that while pretty boys may come and go in Hollywood, cool/weird/ugly/distinctive faces like Vincent Schiavelli's never go out of style. :)
